Artist's Statement
A sense of empty and a sense of calm, but complete. This drives my creative impulse. I try to create without gimmick. I look for guidance from the classic abstract painters: Rothko, Mondrian, and Kline. My paintings always seem to me like stepping stones, hopefully leading to a greater and greater realization of simplicity that is complex enough to hold emotion and interest.
